Hiring Call - Reviewers

RPGamer

If you're looking to break into the gaming industry, have a strong affinity for the RPG genre, and have a love for writing, then RPGamer is the place for you. Since its inception in 1998, RPGamer has grown to be one of the most well known, respected, and popular RPG-centric websites in the world. Of course, none of this would be possible if it weren't for the hard work the staff of RPGamer has put in over the years. RPGamer is constantly looking to expand and improve upon its core team in a variety of areas. Presently, we are looking to hire several reviewers to improve our coverage in this area.

Reviewers are expected to review at least one title, new or old, monthly. They should own at least one system from the current generation (PS3/Wii/Xbox 360/DS/PSP) and have good command of language and grammar. Please note that while our site is available in foreign languages through the translator feature, all original text is in English, and so reviewers are expected to be fluent in that language in order to apply.

Those who are interested in joining the Reviews team should fill out our staff application, which is available at the link below. In addition to completing the sample news articles, which are included as a gauge of writing ability, applicants are also required to submit a sample review to castomel@rpgamer.com. This review can be for any game, current or old, and must be done using our review template, available here. Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to double-check both their application and writing sample before submission; remember, this is a position that involves a fair amount of writing, and so we are looking for people who are able to produce consistently strong material with a minimum of errors. A basic knowledge of HTML is also recommended, although only insofar as it is necessary to format your writing. When submitting your review by email, please include the following information in the body of the email: Your name, the title of the review, and what game it is for. Do not send any review that you have written previously or submitted to Points of View.

Positions at RPGamer are currently unpaid, but this isn't to say that working here is without other rewards. In addition to having your writing read by a wide audience and the most renowned video game companies in the industry, RPGamer staff members are also privy to their very own @RPGamer.com email address, as well as the satisfaction of knowing that they are an integral part of RPGamer. Working here is also an excellent way to break into the gaming world; many of our former staff have gone on to work with development houses and news outlets both in the US and abroad.

Interviews will be held as applications are received, so don't delay. If you have any questions or concerns, please use the message forum link below, as RPGamer staff will be watching it closely. Thank you for your interest in helping out RPGamer; we look forward to hearing from all of you!

If you have any questions, please use the message board thread for this notice; you may also direct queries to castomel@rpgamer.com. [Begin Application]
